How to choose the right Foundation for your skin

Choosing a right foundation matching ideally or closest your skin tone is very important. A right foundation based on your skin tone provides a natural look to your face. Most importantly it cover up blemishes and other imperfections of your face. Choosing a right foundation depends on many factors and that should always be kept in mind while purchasing a foundation for you.
First determine your skin type. Foundations for all skin types are available. So, you can choose a perfect one as per your skin type. Here are some important tips to choose the right foundation for your skin:

  • A very common mistake when choosing foundation is testing it on the back of your hand. This way you most surely will select the wrong tone. Test foundation on your jaw line.
  • Clean your face properly and apply moisturize on your face before testing a new foundation. Any old foundation, powder or other makeup will distort the color.
  • Try a yellow-based foundation first. Foundations with other undertones are rarely a good choice for anyone. Yellow is the natural undertone of all human skin.
  • Apply foundation on your face to make a test. Testing on hand or neck is never appropriate. This way you can choose a wrong shade for you.
  • Blend in the foundation well. The shade of many foundations, especially water-based ones, will change a little bit when it dries.
  • After applying foundation, you need to go outside to check in sunlight. Natural light is the best to check the effects.
  • Check if your foundation looks natural. You should appear as if you have naturally perfect (or nearly perfect) skin. It should not be obvious that you are wearing a foundation, and you should not be able to tell where the foundation starts and stops.
